2027 horoscope: the year ahead for every sign

2027 is a year of slow, heavy planets staying put and fast ones changing gear. Saturn and Neptune spend all of it in Aries, Uranus all of it in Gemini and Pluto all of it in Aquarius. Jupiter starts the year in Leo and moves into Virgo on July 26. The eclipses fall on the Leo–Aquarius axis, with the long total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9° Leo as the year's peak.

Venus has no retrograde in 2027. It turns retrograde about every nineteen months; the last one ran from October 3 to November 13, 2026, and the next is in 2028, so love and money get a clear run all year. The three Mercury retrogrades are covered day by day in Mercury retrograde 2027.

The big planets in 2027, one by one

Saturn in Aries, all year

Saturn re-entered Aries on February 13, 2026 and stays until April 2028, so 2027 is its one full calendar year there. Saturn asks for structure and patience; Aries is the sign of starting, acting alone and taking the lead. Together they are often read as learning to lead slowly: starting things you will still be doing in five years, and being tested on whether you follow through. Saturn reaches the late degrees of Aries in August (it turns retrograde at 27° on August 9), so anyone with planets or an angle near the end of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn feels it most in the second half of the year. Neptune in Aries, all year

Neptune entered Aries for good on January 26, 2026, for the first time since the 1860s, and stays until 2038–2039. It turns retrograde at 6° Aries on July 9 and direct at 3° on December 15, so in 2027 it works the first few degrees of the sign. Neptune dissolves and idealises; in Aries it is often read as a new set of ideals about the self and courage, and confusion about what to fight for. It moves so slowly that its effect is generational, except where it crosses a personal planet or your rising degree: that is where it shows up in one person's year.

Uranus in Gemini, all year

Uranus entered Gemini on April 25, 2026 and stays until 2032–2033. In 2027 it moves between 1° and 10° Gemini. Uranus brings sudden change and freedom; Gemini rules talk, learning, short trips, siblings, writing and the tools we use to think. Read by house, it marks where your daily routine of ideas and contacts changes without warning. The September 10 square from Jupiter in Virgo is the year's sharpest moment for it.

Pluto in Aquarius, all year

Pluto has been in Aquarius since November 19, 2024 and stays until 2043–2044. In 2027 it sits between 4° and 7° Aquarius. Pluto transforms slowly, by ending and rebuilding; Aquarius is the sign of groups, networks and the future. The North Node also travels through Aquarius in 2027 and meets Pluto on November 16, which is part of why the Aquarius eclipses of February and August carry so much weight.

Jupiter in Leo, then Virgo

Jupiter spends January to July 26 in Leo. It is retrograde until April 12 (it turned at 27° Leo on December 12, 2026), then moves forward through the late degrees of Leo again. Leo is creativity, joy, children, being seen and generosity; Jupiter enlarges whatever it touches, so the first half of 2027 is often read as a time to be visible and to make something your own. From July 26 Jupiter is in Virgo, where it grows things through skill, health routines, service and getting the details right; it stays there until August 24, 2028. The eclipses: Leo and Aquarius

Eclipses come in pairs of signs for about eighteen months. In 2027 the pair is Leo and Aquarius: the annular solar eclipse of February 6 at 17° Aquarius and the total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9° Leo, with lunar eclipses on February 20 (Virgo, the edge of the series), July 18 (Capricorn, barely an eclipse) and August 17 (24° Aquarius). The August 2 eclipse gives over six minutes of totality in parts of Egypt, which is why it is called the eclipse of the century. Astrologers read eclipses as turning points: what started around the eclipses of 2026 comes to a head, and something ends to make room. Mars retrograde, January to April

Mars turns retrograde at 10° Virgo on January 10 and backs into Leo, turning direct at 20° Leo on April 1. Mars is drive, anger and desire; its retrograde, about every two years, is usually read as a time to redo rather than start: finish the projects you began, rework a plan, and pick fights carefully.

Sun sign or rising sign: which 2027 horoscope to read

Both, in that order: rising sign first. A horoscope works by putting each planet in a house, and houses are counted from your rising sign, which changes every two hours or so. Reading by Sun sign assumes your rising sign is the same as your Sun sign, which is true for about one person in twelve (those born around sunrise). If your rising sign is different, the rising-sign reading usually fits your year better; the Sun-sign one still says something about your energy and identity. How to read 2027 in your own chart

1. Find your rising sign and your houses. Your free chart gives both from your birth date, time and place.
2. Place the slow planets. Find which houses Aries (Saturn, Neptune), Gemini (Uranus) and Aquarius (Pluto) fall in. Those are your year's long themes.

What is the biggest astrological event of 2027?

The total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9° Leo, called the eclipse of the century for its six-plus minutes of totality over Egypt. Close behind: Jupiter's move into Virgo on July 26 and Saturn's year-long stay in Aries.

Is 2027 a good year for my sign?

No year is all good or all bad for a whole sign. Why do 2027 horoscopes differ between sites?

Three reasons: some read by Sun sign and some by rising sign; Vedic (sidereal) sites use a zodiac about 24° behind the Western one, so they put Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces for much of the year; and dates shift a day with time zones. This page is Western (tropical), US Eastern time.
